FTG’s Unconcious Bias @Work headlines the Global Aviation Gender Summit
Free To Grow has been invited to present a key two-hour session on Unconscious Bias at the first ever Global Aviation Gender Summit to be held in Cape Town from 8 to 10 August 2018.
With over 450 registered delegates from around the world, the Summit signifies an important step in mobilising the global aviation community in accelerating gender equality. Organised by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in collaboration with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Summit provides a unique opportunity to advocate for impactful change in the global aviation sector with respect to diversity, inclusion and equality.
The 3-day programme comprises a range of topics pertaining to the barriers and enablers that often impact the advancement of women in the aviation sector – a sector traditionally been dominated by men. While gender inequality is complex in nature, it is recognised that Unconcious Bias, and its impact on individuals, teams and organisations, forms a crucial part of the conversation. As such, Free To Grow’s session will set the stage for impactful discussion on the issues surrounding gender equality for the remainder of the Summit.
Co-presented by Alinda Nortje, CEO and founder of Free To Grow, and Yolande Chirwa, senior facilitator and subject matter expert, the session will focus on how to become aware of biases and the key steps to minimising them. Drawing on their extensive and collective experience in the fields of Unconscious Bias, Employee Engagement and Organisational Culture, the presenters will ensure a rich theoretical experience, with a focus on practical application in the workplace. An experience that will not only create awareness of the adverse effects of Unconscious Bias but also provide tips and tools to move from Unconscious Bias toward Conscious Inclusion.
Free To Grow is delighted to be partnering with the ICAO and SACAA on this journey, an opportunity that arose following the successful presentation of Free To Grow’s Unconscious Bias @ Work programme to 140 senior managers from the City of Cape Town.
To assist organisations on their diversity and inclusivity journeys, in a manner that is both inspiring and engaging, Free To Grow offers a half-day Unconscious Bias @ Work workshop and a full day Moving from Unconscious Bias to Conscious Inclusion. The latter is aimed at senior leaders and takes Unconscious Bias @ Work one step further by exploring the key steps to be taken to minimise and mitigate unconscious bias on individual, team and organisational level.
