World Mental Health

October 10th is World Mental Health Day.  It's an ideal time to turn up the spotlight on mental health and wellbeing. In 2019, employers started to grasp the extent of mental health challenges at work. Fast forward to 2022, and burnout and mental health challenges "are now the norm among employees across all organisational levels" according to the Harvard Business Review article "It's a new Era for Metal Health at Work".

Many people in our teams are really struggling. As leaders we give an abundance of energy to our work and our teams but we are seldom equipped to support their wellbeing effectively. Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) provide a valuable service, however their usage is low and they are often only used by employees in dire need. The large majority of employees are left untouched - and therefore unsupported.

Equipping leaders to take back the accountability for the wellbeing of their people

Free To Grow's Staying Strong DIY Toolkit is a user-friendly video-based toolkit that equips leaders to integrate short, powerful wellbeing conversations into their team meetings. In the process, they reconnect with their people, and create the opportunity for their teams to grow closer together and support each other on a deeper level.

The toolkit offers organisations a cost effective way to reach their employees with regular messages of hope, resilience and emotional wellbeing.

This video-based toolkit adds enormous value by:

1. Enhancing employee wellbeing over time

  • Provides 15 wellbeing touchpoints over 4 months, offering multiple opportunities for leaders to deepen their connection with their teams
  • Creates an open climate and opens the door to follow-up conversations where team members share their feelings and experiences, grow closer and support each other
  • Creates a common language re wellbeing in teams and across the organisation.
2. Developing leaders
  • Develops the skills to facilitate meaningful team conversations, a useful skill for all team meetings
  • Provides detailed conversation guides that ensure impact and a positive experience for the team and for the leader, growing the leader's self-confidence, motivation and sense of achievement.
